Turkey Hangover

All that turkey and play wore our babies out!

They were asleep within minutes of leaving Athens.

But a warm bath and new Christmas jammies re-energized them!

A Georgia Thanksgiving

We headed down to Athens, GA again this year for Thanksgiving. We were excited to see family again and the boys were happy to play with their cousins. They did great on the drive down thanks to lots of snacks, Mickey Mouse, and Thomas the Train.

Eleanor was darling of the group.

Everett was happy to play in the back yard the whole visit. He was high energy the whole time!

And Hampton was happy just playing with this train set.

Our family keeps growing!

Oh boys. Everett and Hampton loved playing with their cousins Zeke and Daniel. They seemed so little next to them.

My Everett

I know that these "little years" are precious and few. So I wanted to write a post of what I want to remember about Everett at age 4.

Everett is a very energetic and witty little boy. Some of the things he says are so smart and make me laugh. He knows he can be funny too. I love that.
We joke (however are serious) that Everett is our "neediest" child. He is a bit high maintenance and can spout off a list of his demands in a matter of seconds. He is a child who knows what he wants and how he wants it.
Everett is very emotional. He can go from super happy to super distraught very easily. Thankfully he is also very reasonable. He is a good negotiator.
Everett is getting better and better at warming up to new situations. He has made such improvements with his ability to transition. He never cries now when being dropped off at preschool.
Speaking of preschool, Everett's teacher has recently reported he is coming out of his shell and talking much more in the classroom. He gets a stamp everyday for good behavior and his teacher has told me he is one of the best behaved in the class. So happy to hear that!
Although Everett may have few words in preschool, he is very verbal at home! I am surprised everyday at home his language has blossomed. He has an extensive vocabulary and talks non-stop!
Speaking of speech, Everett has had some "bumpy" speech. He stutters a bit and I have been working on "smooth and easy" speech with him for awhile. Thankfully stuttering has not hindered him in any way. He still communicates great and it does not seem to phase him at all.
Everett has recently shown an interest in drawing. He likes to draw all sorts of funny characters on his doodle pad.
Everett has always had an ear for music. He loves pieces from The Nutcracker and anything Beatles.
Everett has been recently very helpful in "reporting" to us about his brother and sister. For example, "Eleanor is playing in the potty" and "Hampton is naked." Okay that last statement may have sounded funny, but this morning that's what Everett came and told us. Sure enough, we went into the boys room to find Hampton naked. Not sure why or when he had stripped, but Everett let us know!
Everett and Hampton continue to have a growing friendship. After we turn out the lights at bedtime we hear them talking and giggling.
Everett has a crazy imagination and needs very little toys in order to entertain himself. He has always been so creative and it is fun to watch.
My Everett is the one who made me a mama. Although he can be a challenge at times with his emotional personality and stubborn self, he is and always has been such a joy to parent. I just love my Evy boy.

Mama Day

I was in hibernation mode today. This week has been rough. Eric and I got very sick on Monday and I was completely out of commission. Then yesterday I worked a really long day. So today I gathered up all my babies and declared them mine! I let Everett skip preschool and I wanted to soak them all up. Spend every minute together. And by 7 pm tonight, I was spent. It was a good day. I left our nice camera behind today and captured our day on my iPhone.

This morning I made the children oatmeal with honey and cinnamon. Then I declared to Everett that he was taking the day off preschool. He was excited to stay home. The boys decided that it would be fun to go to Dunkin Donuts. This is a rare treat, so we went. They each got four little munchkins in their own paper bag and were so happy. We then went to Target. They love looking at all the Christmas stuff out now.

They each got to pick a treat. Hampton chose this tiger and Everett chose a dinosaur.

After Target we went home and I put Eleanor down for a nap. We got a new movie at Target-Mickey Mouse saves Santa (they LOVE Mickey), so the boys watched that while I cleaned the kitchen, did laundry, and ate some breakfast of my own. Once Eleanor got up we all played downstairs until lunch. Everett loves writing letters and drawing on his doodle pad.

He labeled this creation- "pumpkin man."

For lunch I made them homemade macaroni and cheese, strawberries, and bananas. Then Hampton and Eleanor went down for their afternoon nap, while Everett watched Curious George and played downstairs. He then joined me upstairs where I prepared dinner and mopped. I really enjoy this one on on time with Ev. Once Hampy and Ellie got up we had to run to the bank (where they got lollipops!) and then we went home and played outdoor in the chilly 50 degree weather. I guess cold fresh air is better than no fresh air at all.

We then went inside and had supper-meatloaf and roasted carrots. Once Eric got home we had to make another quick trip to Target before heading home for bath, books, and bed! I had a much needed day with my babies. I ache for them when I am away and we definitely had some quality time today.

Playground at Dusk

We've been battling sickness at our home lately. Definitely a way to kick off cold/flu season. It started with Hampton on Sunday evening. His stomach virus was short-lived and he was better mid-Monday. We waited for the next child to have symptoms (as it seems inevitable), however no one did.....that was until very early Thursday morning. Our poor Eleanor got very sick in the night and it lingered Thursday. We thought she was over it by yesterday, but in the morning got sick again. Thankfully a trip to the doctor confirmed it was just a stomach virus and it would pass.
The children have been pretty much cooped up in the house all week so last night we decided to let them get some fresh air. Eleanor seemed a bit better so we thought it would be good for her too. On the way there Everett definitely showed signs of sickness with fatigue and not wanting to eat (which is very unusual for him!). However he went on and played a bit at the park.

I think the fresh air did everyone some good. A quick 45-minute trip outdoors was nice. No one got sick last night thankfully! Praying this is our one sickness this season!
