Georgia Vacation

Last week we headed down to Athens, Ga. to visit our family. This was actually Everett's first visit down there. We had such a great time. We ate, shopped, played, but best of all...we got to visit with Everett's Gigi, his Aunt Becky and Uncle Jason (who by the way, he was completely fascinated with....Jason did you put some sort of spell on him!?! ), and his cousins Zeke and Daniel. We happened to be there on Eric's birthday, so we had a party for him as well. Eric and I also managed to sneak away one night for a date. We ate at our favorite restaurant in Athens and went and saw the movie Up, which did not disappoint. I was so disappointed however because my camera battery died and we left the charger here in Louisville. These four pictures was all I was able to take before it died......

This is at Eric's party. I love how Everett put the plate in front of his face. Zeke and Ev playing. Ignore the pouty look on his face. He was having fun!
Zeke and Daniel had gathered some toys that were "fun toys for a 1 year old!"

Gigi wore Everett out so much, that he fell asleep on her couch. I wasn't able to rotate this picture correctly for some reason.

An Art Project Gone Wrong

Today was my day off, so I had a project in mind for Everett and me. We were going to make Daddy a present for Father's Day. I already had the project in mind, so we headed off to Hobby Lobby to gather supplies. After about an hour of indecisiveness and roaming the store, I found what I needed and headed off to a couple of other stores to get more odds and ends. Everett was definitely over it by noon and ready to eat lunch, so we headed home. After his nap, I was so excited and got all the things we needed ready in his bedroom. I laid out towels on the floor because I knew things were about to get messy. I also stripped him down to his diaper. The plan was to get his hand prints on a picture mat. I used acrylic paint because the "kid paint" wasn't the colors that I wanted. Well, I managed to get his prints the way I wanted them, but I also managed to let him jump out of my lap and leave lovely blue hand prints, three to be exact, on his carpet. Immediately I started to laugh. I think I was laughing so hard because if I weren't, I knew I would be crying. In a matter of seconds he managed to leave his prints on the carpet, and smear bright blue paint all over his body and his hair. I rushed him to his bathroom and luckily it came off very easily. I then scrubbed the carpet, which did not so much come out. I think I'll have to buy some heavy duty carpet cleaner, but for now there is a throw rug, rather oddly placed, to cover up all evidence. I am pleased with the end result of our project though.
Boys are funny. Everett manages to get into everything these days. A couple of days ago he got a ball point pen off our dining room table, crawled over to our leather couch, and made his mark there as well. I looked up how to get that out on Martha Stewart's website. She said to use perfume. Well thanks Martha. It got the pen out, but also discolored our couch in the process! Oh well, our home looks more and more like a child lives here. Eric chalks it up to creating memories. I am slowly getting there :)
