My absolute favorite posts I write are the ones simply documenting our day to day. The first few pictures are out of order since they happened at the end of the day, but everything took forever to upload so I'll just leave it at that. Here is our Thursday last week:
In the afternoon we visited the Nature Center. We have a year pass and it has been so worth it! Here we are watching a short presentation on the Screech Owl. I love that the children ask so many thoughtful questions and "step back" was something I might have said like 10 times during this 5 minute deal.
My baby was amped up this whole trip. So full of energy this kid.
Mid-trip we got rained on and I just let them continue to play. It was a sweet memory.
Okay, now backing up to our morning. Our school day mornings usually begin around 6:45 when Thatcher marches out of the nursery shouting at the top of his lungs "It's 6:45!" as their Cinderella castle alarm clock has gone off. Every single morning this occurs. Coffee for Eric and I soon follow and breakfast for all. Eleanor and Thatcher have a slow start to the day, playing mostly on their own while I start school with the big boys. We usually get math done first.
She is very into dressing herself these days and this is her absolute favorite skirt.
Working through our workboxes. Everett usually takes all morning and into the afternoon to finish his schoolwork. If working diligently, Hampton can be done in an hour flat.
Eleanor and Thatcher entertaining themselves with PlayDoh.
Hampton has completed all schoolwork and has done a good bit of silent reading. He now is able to play with his Legos.
Everett still working away and has now moved on to Greek Mythology-one of his favorite subjects.
Somewhere in the midst of everything I get some laundry done. I have resolved to do a least 1-2 loads a day now. It has become necessary.
Maggie sits on her perch on top of the couch most of the morning. This is her spot.
We make a quick run to Starbucks where I get a free drink with the Starbucks app and then swing by Dunkin Donuts because donuts are just always a good idea.
When we get back home I begin another lesson from this book with Eleanor. Even though she does not have all her letters/sounds done yet, I decided recently to begin this book so that she can understand the rationale behind phonics. She has really enjoyed it so far.
And I don't want to forget to mention the professor who is busily reading, writing, and dissertating.
I escape for 3 minutes of peace up in his office.
Lunch is whole wheat waffles topped with peanut butter and jelly. Apples on the side.
Post Nature Center fun and dinner (spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread) it is time for the bedtime routine. Cannot recall if this was a bath night or not, but most evenings end with a bath, show, books. Hampton has really been loving The Magic Treehouse books. I had just gotten both boys book lights so they can read at bedtime and not disturb the others.
Ev has been reading the Judy Moody and Stink series and just started Ramona and her Father.
Eric or I read a chapter from The Jesus Storybook Bible every night.

So that is how our days usually run. Breakfast, school, lunch, rest time, finish up school, and then an outing of some sort (play date, park, library, etc.), dinner, bed time routine. The days are long. And we are together quite a bit. Both things I am learning to be exceedingly grateful for. I love these people.
