First Bottle

Daddy feeding Everett his first bottle!

He drank all 4 ounces!

Ahhh......satisfaction

He's so cute!

Everett had his first bottle ever the other day. Aunt Jenny and I had gone to Target while Everett was napping. Everett decided that he wanted to eat early that day, so Eric called me to let me know he was hungry. Fortunately, I had some breastmilk in the freezer, so Eric decided to try a bottle. The pediatrician said to maybe try the bottle at 6 weeks, but Everett took right to it! I was kind of sad when I walked through the door and saw him drinking from a bottle....he looked like such a big boy! However, I am glad now that others (especially Eric) can share in the experience of feeding him.

A Week With A GREAT Aunt

This past week Everett got to spend time with his Great Aunt Jenny (my aunt). We all had so much fun! We went to the park, got ice-cream, went to the bookstore, went out to eat, and went to Target several times. It was so nice to have Aunt Jenny here this past week. She means so much to us and it was great to have her get to know Everett. Thanks for everything Jenny and we can't wait to see you in the Fall!

One Month Checkup

Everett had his one month check-up today. He now weighs 8 pounds 7 ounces. His height is 20 inches (I guess he shrunk an inch!). He is in the 25th percentile for his weight and is now in the 10th percentile for his height. He had his Hepetitis shot and took it like a man :) Overall, the doctor said he is doing very well and said he is just a tiny peanut. We have our next appt. in one month.

Everett's One Month!

Everett turned one month old today! It's hard to believe that it was only a month ago that our little Everett was born. The time really does fly. Here is a list of "happenings" for this month:

1. Everett has become more alert and is slowly coming out of his "baby coma"
2. Everett is starting to lift his head more and for longer periods of time.
3. Everett had his first tub bath.
4. Everett lost his cord stump (this took almost 3 weeks).
5. Everett is eating well and gaining weight (he is now up to 8 pounds 2 ounces).
6. Everett is cooing and making more sounds (vegetative sounds to be exact for all you speechies!)
6. Everett is making more eye contact.
7. Everett is being able to tolerate more "tummy time"
8. Everett is now out of his preemie clothes!
9. Everett responds to our voices.
10. Everett's personality is definitely becoming more apparent and it's so fun!

Happy Birthday Eric!

On Tuesday we celebrated Eric's 28th birthday (his first birthday as a papa!). I made Eric's birthday meal and we enjoyed a nice walk around the seminary. It wasn't an extremely eventful day, but a nice day just the three of us. Here is a video of Everett and I singing Happy Birthday to Eric.

Failed Photo Shoot

I never realized how difficult it can be to take a really good picture of an infant. Eric and I attempted to get a good pic of Everett yesterday for our birth announcement. After about 40 or so pictures, we gave up. It is a rare occasion that Everett is awake enough now to have his eyes open for an extended period of time and when he is alert, he is usually not looking directly at us (much less a camera). We did our best though and here are some of the pictures we took.

Our Little Monkey Man!

When Eric and I had our ultrasound, the technician commented on how active Everett was. Having felt his big kicks for awhile, I definitely agreed with her. Now that he is here, I could not agree more. Eric has told me how he was an active child himself and I am afraid our little Everett is headed down that path! Everett is addicted to being swaddled and we feel that we have finally mastered the art of a really tight swaddle. Well today our little monkey man managed to get out of his swaddle and turn himself sideways in his bed. I love the disgruntled look on his face!

Everett Grey Is Here!

Everett made his appearance on May 16th at 2:10 pm.....three weeks early! I was very surprised when I woke up early Friday morning and discovered that my water had broken. We called the doctor and she said we needed to time the contractions for an hour. They were three minutes apart! After an hour we went to the hospital and were admitted. After eight hours of labor, Everett finally arrived at 6 pounds 9 ounces and 21 inches long.
