Target, Thai and Cupcakes

Yesterday was a nice Sunday. We have decided to keep Everett out of the church nursery until he is completely over his respiratory virus and until he is fully vaccinated (I have been watching too much news and 60-minutes I guess...but we decided it is best). So, while Eric was at church yesterday morning, Everett and I decided to go to the new Super Target in St.Matthews. It was great! While we were walking up to the entrance Everett started excitedly yelling "ball" at the big red Target balls. We had fun just strolling the aisles. Later on, while Everett was napping, Eric did some "mechanic work." Our car door handle had broken off and Eric had ordered the part and decided the best time to fix it was yesterday afternoon. I must say that I was very impressed and proud of him because he did a great job and it had involved completely taking apart and removing the car door. Yeah Eric! The rest of our afternoon was spent strolling around the neighborhood and playing. For dinner I decided to go Thai and made a chicken and pasta dish with a peanut sauce. It was really good! I had also baked Halloween cupcakes for dessert, which Everett thoroughly enjoyed as you can tell from the picture below.

Fall Fun And a Baby Giraffe

Yesterday we had a really fun day, so be prepared for a picture overload. We started off the day by taking advantage of the beautiful Fall weather with another photo shoot.... Everett loves to collect leaves.
Reaching for a leaf with "Dada"

This is a common facial expression we get from him when trying to take a picture...Or we get this.....it's like he knows we are trying to get a picture, so he instantly closes his eyes.
We then had lunch at Mimi's Cafe....our favorite. I had to show you a picture of the chicken pot pie I ordered....it's on their menu under the title "Comfort Classics" and it so yummy!

Eric got the slow-roasted turkey and dressing...also a "Comfort Classic." Everett ate off our plates and did so well! We ordered him a strawberry smoothie for dessert and he loved it (so did I).

Last year we went to the zoo's Halloween Party and had so much fun. So we decided to go again this year. Last year Ev was a dragon and this year he was a giraffe. Our original costume fell through. I ordered it online and it was too small. It was too late to order the next size up, so we went with this costume. It actually worked out even better since we were going to the zoo.

Everett's pumpkin that his Grammy ordered him from Pottery Barn Kids.

I love that it has his name monogrammed on it.

We attached it to his stroller so that he could collect his (or really our) loot. He spent most of the time in his stroller, but near the end we did get him out and let him go "wild"...which he did.
I was pleasantly surprised how he handled wearing his costume.
A baby giraffe meeting a mama giraffe. People passing by seemed to love this. I have to admit, it was a spectacle. So cute!
Everett also met an owl. He loves characters!
Such a cute baby giraffe.
On our way home. We had so fun!

Baby Hair

Today marked another milestone for Everett....he got his first hair cut. We went to a place called Cookie Cutters, which is a hair salon only for kids. It was really cute, with fun chairs to sit in and kid movies to watch. I told the lady cutting Ev's hair that I just wanted him to have a trim. He handled the experience alright with only a few tears. However, when we got in the car I shed a few tears of my own. I was sad because his beautiful curls (which Eric assures me will return because he seems to have inherited his hair) were gone. Also, Everett just looked so much older. He doesn't look like a baby anymore and that just made me sad. I must admit though, now that the initial shock has died down, he does look really handsome. He thinks so too!

Two Little Pumpkins

It is beginning to hit me that before I know it, we will be a family of four. Today we decided to go to the farmer's market and get Everett a little pumpkin. I saw these cute, tiny pumpkins and instantly thought of our little one that I am carrying. So, we decided to get both of our children a pumpkin today. This was the first thing I have bought for our next child, and it was fun. The only thing is....Everett, are you ready for all of this?

Georgia on Our Mind

We had a great time on our recent trip to Athens, GA to visit Eric's family. It was definitely worth the 8 hour drive with a toddler....which was a challenge. In fact, mid-trip on the way down Eric convinced me it was completely necessary to have us stop at Target and get a DVD player for the car. It was. Thanks once again Baby Einstein. We had a great time visiting, seeing Everett interact with his cousins Zeke and Daniel, and spending time together. We miss you Georgia family!

The Wednesday Play by Play

Wednesdays are always fun and are usually an Everett and Mommy Day. Eric is always kind to let me "sleep in" on Wednesdays and I let him "sleep in" on Saturdays. The quotes are because "sleeping in" around here usually means we sleep until about 8. So then this morning Everett and I decided to stroll around the mall and window shop for awhile and then we met Eric at Mimi's Cafe for lunch. We chose Mimi's because I had a craving for some fried pickles and because we had a coupon. Also, Mimi's never disappoints. Everett does so well at restaurants now. He usually just enjoys watching the people so we practically turn his highchair out and he is good for at least a half hour if not longer. After lunch, Everett took a very long nap from 12:30-4:30. He is so active when he is awake, that he just crashes when it is time to nap. While he was napping, Eric and I had a long chat and then I ran to Target to pick up a few things. Then tonight we had a meal that was labeled in my Crock Pot cookbook as "Harvest Dinner." I was just sold by the name and it was really good! It is basically just a pot roast with onions and sweet potatoes. It is also seasoned with cinnamon. We cooked it in the Crock Pot overnight and then it warmed throughout the day. Very yummy. After dinner Ev and I walked, or I should say wandered, around the neighborhood. It is getting really cool outside so it was nice. Now Everett is relaxing with a video as I write this post. On tonight's agenda is cleaning out my closet and painting my toenails. Oh, and Top Chef is on tonight as well. Overall a really good day off with my boy. Next week is another doctor's visit! We are attempting to take Everett to that visit. We'll see how that goes.

Sunday Best

Everett was looking especially cute this past Sunday. He wore this Janie and Jack outfit that my mom had got him while she was here. The dogs on his shirt are little Dachshunds. He looked so cute, but his behavior in the nursery was not so cute. Oh Everett....one day you won't be such a nursery rebel...right?

Yesterday was another fun Saturday. We started the day off with cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then went to story time. I did not know that Curious George would be visiting story time that morning. I couldn't believe I forgot my camera! I was interested though to see what Everett would do upon meeting him. I was pleasantly surprised to see him run right up to him and want to "pet" him. It was the cutest thing. He showed absolutely no fear. I am always going to have my camera on me from now on. After story time we went to Five Guys for lunch......the best greasy spoon around town. Everett liked their version of a grilled cheese. While Everett was napping, I went out to some consignment stores to find some more Fall clothes for Everett, and even found Eric a few things. That night we went over to our friend the Drury's home. Our friends the Rues were there too. It was fun to watch our boys "play" together. Everett did really well and wasn't shy at all. He loved playing with all of Silas' toys and really loved petting and feeding their dogs! It was also cute to see the boys giving each other high fives. Below is a picture of Jonah, Silas, and Ev. I love Everett's puzzled look. We get that look a lot when we take his picture.
