Diary of a New Mommy

No one ever said that motherhood was going to be easy. I have been a mommy now for two and a half short months and I must agree. Being Everett's mom has been the most challenging, yet the most rewarding and fulfilling job and role I have ever had. Today Eric and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. Our lives have changed so much in 4 years, it's amazing. We decided to go out for breakfast and one of those "challenging moments" appeared. Everett was having a bad morning and started screaming in the restaurant! So I turned a lovely shade of red and rushed him to the bathroom to try and soothe him. Well he wasn't having any of it. So there I was, practicing the art of patience in the ladies restroom while my food got cold out on the table and my poor husband ate alone. After what seemed like hours (it was really only about 15 minutes) I decided to just skip breakfast and get the heck out of there. Everett's bad morning turned into a bad day and well.....let's just say it is now 8:30, my sweet baby is finally sleeping, and I'm exhausted. Becoming a parent has definitely caused me to appreciate my own. Thanks Mom and Dad! I love my new role as a mommy and I LOVE our Everett bear. He is (most of the time) such a happy and content baby and seeing him smile is the highlight of any day. I know someday we'll laugh about days like this......right???

Mommy's Favorite Pictures

Over the past two months Eric and I have taken many (and I do mean many) pictures of Everett. Here are a few of my favorites. I tried to get them in some kind of progressive order, however it didn't work out. It is amazing to see though how in just two short months how much he has changed.

Let's Play!

Stimulation anyone? Eric and I thought that Everett would definitely enjoy a play gym. So after researching many different types and brands we decided on the Baby Einstein Baby Neptune. So today we finally went to Babies R Us and got it! This was our first really fun purchase for Everett. We tried it out after one of his naps today and I would say he liked it. I think he enjoyed the mirror that hangs down the most. Of course I had to take tons of pictures of his new adventure as well as capture it on video. Enjoy!

The Williamson Men

Eric's brother Jason and his wife Becky and family (cousins Zeke and Daniel) had the opportunity to stop by in Louisville a few weeks ago and meet Everett. We were all talking in the living room and it suddenly hit me that I had to snap a photo of the Williamson men in our family. I thought this was a great picture of "the boys." Hmmm.....I wonder if there are any girls in our future?

We have had a fun couple of weeks with my family here in town. My mom (aka Gammy) was here for two weeks and my dad (aka Poppy) and Aunt Mary were here for one week. We all had a great time shopping, eating out, going to a few Louisville hot spots, as well as playing with Everett. It is especially hard now with them living so far away (Florida) and we love the time we do get to spend together. We miss you all!

Yesterday Everett had his 2 month checkup. I can't believe 2 months have already gone by. It really does go by fast. Everett now weighs a hefty 12 pounds 5 ounces and is 22 3/4 inches long. The doctor says he is developing quite nicely and is "a nice boy." We have recently been noticing Everett's personality emerging more and more and it is so fun! He is now smiling, which we love. He has become fascinated by music and lights as well. While we were at the pediatrician's office they had a mirror and we discovered that he found that fun as well. He loved looking at himself. He is cooing/grunting more and more (which of course I love especially.....it's the speech therapist in me....now let's work on our babbling skills!) We have truly enjoyed these last 2 months and look forward to many more exciting milestones! Happy 2 months Everett bear!

Today was beautiful, so we decided to pack up a lunch and go for a picnic and a nice stroll. We had originally wanted to go to the pool, but we found out it is closed on Mondays....boo. We'll try again tomorrow. Yeah for lazy summer days!
